Political Correctness...

There's always an edge here,
this place of in-between,
where men do bravely sing
as from the cliff they glean.
Now, do not rock the boat,
please suffer no offence,
yet the edge of acceptability
makes neither rule nor sense.
Lookout below for guano,
there's a daily fresh supply,
cast near and far without a thought,
enough to blind an eye!

Andrew, at dverse poets, is our guest prompter today. One of the options he has suggested, is to write a poetic rant about something we feel strongly about! Here's the link: Stormy Rants and Rumblings

  1. We are always reminded of it, so we do not rock the boat. Yet I doubt if we believe in all of that.

    1. Being 'politically correct' takes some navigating for sure. What I fear is that common sense isn't that common anymore.

  3. Carol - somebody has to call out the bird-shit and today it's you! I particularly like "yet the edge of acceptability
    makes neither rule nor sense..."

    1. Thanks, Andrew and thanks for the cool prompt! Being politically correct all the time is tiresome. ;D

  4. I love the jaunty rhythm of your verse and especially these lines:

"Now, do not rock the boat,
    please suffer no offence,
    yet the edge of acceptability
    makes neither rule nor sense."

    🙂

  5. Oh yes--plenty of that guano around. I like the contrast of jolly tone with the message.

    1. Thanks, Merril. Sometimes being jolly softens the angry bits. ;D
