I'll Have a Full English Please!

The sizzle, the splatter
the best rinds are fatter,
delectable bacon is frying!
The tomato, the sausage,
puffed up like a gossage,
a brown egg or two is worth trying!
The toast, lightly done,
crisp soldiers for one,
border the plate that is offered.
The napkin's stained yellow
the tummy feels mellow,
the full English breakfast now scoffered!

Sanaa, at dverse poets, has prompted us to pen a poem about food! Here's the link: Food Poetry

  1. I have just enjoyed a week of such lovely breakfasts this last week in the Southern Highlands of Scotland. Back to home and plain museli today.

Your poem brought the sizzle back to my nose - wonderful!

    1. I'm more of a muesli gal myself. Kiwi men like their big breakfasts! ;D

  2. Great use of sound, rhyme and rhythm, Carol! My husband loves a full veggie breakfast. I prefer fruit and yogurt.

  3. A great poem! That looks so good! It would take two to eat all of that!

  4. Delightful rhythm and rhyme. Our daughter was just in England, and her first meal was whatever this would be without meat.

    1. Thanks, Merril! Often baked beans are added along with mushrooms. I don't have a cooked breakfast, but hubby does. [He cooks it himself. ;D]

  7. Why is it that away from home one could allow oneself a breakfast, such as your well described full-English when one would never dream of having it at home? Perhaps having it cooked by someone else helps, Carol...

    1. I agree, Andrew! For some reason, when one is on holiday a full English breakfast fits the bill. ;D
