Game Over...

Many moons of long-ago
 dragons flew the skies;
from their lairs in lofty peaks
soared these dragonflies.
With fiery breath and clawed feet,
mean eyes plus barbed tail;
they ruled the skies far and wide,
 scale by scaly scale.
One day the peaks roared to life,
 with fire and with flame;
all the dragons left for dead,
'OVER' said the Game.

Kim @ dverse poets has prompted us to pen a poem about 'dragons'. Here's the link:

    1. Thanks, Dwight! I wasn't sure how to go about this dragon topic hence I ended up with a figurative approach from a gaming perspective. :D

  2. A unique take on the prompt, Carol. I remember playing Spiro the Dragon many moons ago! I had a quick look online, and dragon games seem to be popular. The rhythm and rhyme of your poem is like the pulse of dragons’ wings.

  5. Came to a rather apocalyptic end, alas! Loved the color, rhyme, and imagery you painted so vividly, Carol.
