Many moons of long-ago
dragons flew the skies;
from their lairs in lofty peaks
soared these dragonflies.
With fiery breath and clawed feet,
mean eyes plus barbed tail;
they ruled the skies far and wide,
scale by scaly scale.
One day the peaks roared to life,
with fire and with flame;
all the dragons left for dead,
'OVER' said the Game.
Nicely done, Carol! We never know what will change the course of history.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dwight! I wasn't sure how to go about this dragon topic hence I ended up with a figurative approach from a gaming perspective. :D
DeleteA unique take on the prompt, Carol. I remember playing Spiro the Dragon many moons ago! I had a quick look online, and dragon games seem to be popular. The rhythm and rhyme of your poem is like the pulse of dragons’ wings.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim! Dragons are certainly popular these days, either in story books or with Computer games.
DeleteSuch an ancient world, it sounds amazing...
ReplyDeleteI had to draw upon my ancient imagination, Bjorn! Haha. ;D
DeleteThe game was a great twist. Fun. I like the way you configured this one.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Took me a while to get started but got there in the end. :D
DeleteCame to a rather apocalyptic end, alas! Loved the color, rhyme, and imagery you painted so vividly, Carol.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Dora! It was one way to wipe out the dragons! ;D
