Silence permits one to contemplate,
a walled space to ruminate,
until the world makes sense.
Yet, not everything can be tucked in,
compartmentalized and understood
for the world doesn't offer all the answers.
Instead, one must find the hiding place
where explanations and suggestions
weave in and out of a mind that is curious.
Here, it's a safe place to breathe and to be...
a walled space to ruminate,
until the world makes sense.
Yet, not everything can be tucked in,
compartmentalized and understood
for the world doesn't offer all the answers.
Instead, one must find the hiding place
where explanations and suggestions
weave in and out of a mind that is curious.

Kim, at dverse poets, has made way for Sarah Connor to give us a prompt for today. With a few suggestions offered, I have chosen to take the lines :
" Find me a space here, tucked into the silence.” and to reconstruct them into an entirely new poem.
Here's the link to dverse and to the challenge : In Honor of Sarah Connor
I like the safe hiding places, it's too much outside trying to make sense of it all. Breathe in your safe space. Nice :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Di! Silence doesn't bother me in the slightest. In fact, that's where I do my best thinking. :D
DeleteI love how you reconstructed Sarah’s words, Carol; I had to read your poem twice to pick them out. Contemplation and rumination are art of the poet’s toolkit, and you expressed that so well in your poem. Poetry is a safe place to breathe and be.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim. However, I didn't manage to include every word from the original lines of Sarah Connors'.
Delete"Yet, not everything can be tucked in, compartmentalized and understood for the world doesn't offer all the answers." Yes ... 🩷🩷
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sanaa. I guess AI will be trying its' best to provide all the answers. Bit of a gamble methinks. :{
DeleteI love the idea of safe hiding places, Carol. What a lovely write.
ReplyDeleteThank ye kindly! :D
DeleteVery beautifully written!
ReplyDeleteI really like this:
... Instead, one must find the hiding place
where explanations and suggestions
weave in and out of a mind that is curious
Thank you so much, Dwight!
Delete“where explanations and suggestions
Deleteweave in and out of a mind that is curious.”
Definitely a safe space.🩷
Thanks, Melissa!
DeleteI like the way you took my words and played with them! I like the fact that there are no simple answers here.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Sarah! It was a great prompt to write to.
