Not one to blaze a trail
nor to set the world on fire;
not one to rock the boat
laissez faire more her style.
Not troubled by sad regrets
nor by wishes unfulfilled,
she aspired to live a peaceful life
with contentment well instilled.
Michelle, aka Mish, at dverse poets has challenged us to write a 44 word quadrille which must include the word 'blaze', or some derivative of that word. Here is the link: Blazing Away
Well said...and the image you chose compliments the sentiments so beautifully.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Mish! An enjoyable prompt to write to - thank you!
DeleteI think it is a better aspiration than most.
ReplyDeleteI do too, Bjorn. These days 'busyness' seems to carry some form of martyrdom which we are led to believe is better somehow. Go figure!
DeleteYour poem really resonates with me, Carol, as one who likes a peaceful life.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Kim! A quiet life is often overlooked as dull when actually it hits the mark as to a great life.
DeleteNice rhyme and rhythm
ReplyDeleteThanks, Maria! Much appreciated. :D
DeleteCarol .. your quadrille deserves its own greeting card status!!! Love it.
ReplyDeleteEither that or a tombstone inscription! Hehe. ;D
DeleteI hope she was able to find that, it still eludes me
ReplyDeleteShe's working on it! ;D I have the words 'aspire to live a quiet life' on my screensaver to keep reminding myself. [The quote actually comes from the Bible.] I find this quote settles me when the busyness of life overwhelms me at times.
DeleteShe sounds like a lovely human being, Carol!
ReplyDeleteMuch love,
David
