A Quiet Aspiration...

 Not one to blaze a trail

nor to set the world on fire;

not one to rock the boat

laissez faire more her style.

Not troubled by sad regrets

nor by wishes unfulfilled,

she aspired to live a peaceful life

with contentment well instilled.

Michelle, aka Mish, at dverse poets has challenged us to write a 44 word quadrille which must include the word 'blaze', or some derivative of that word. Here is the link: Blazing Away

Mental Anxiety...

 I spy with my sad little eye

blue skies of hopeful dreams;

no clouds of grey to mar my day

just sunshiny bright sunbeams.

Should I dare to blink ,or try to think,

will this dream of mine soon fade;

I hang on tight to this marvelous sight

lest ills and spills are made.

With tormented mind, that's so unkind,

I stare with unblinkered gaze;

as thoughts abound and twirl around

  I hang on for better days...

Grace at dverse poets has prompted us to write a poem that ties in somehow with this picture by Rene Magritte [1928] ~ 'The False Mirror'.

The Supper Waltz...

'Twasn't fair you know,

she never stood a chance,

a stalking cruel embrace

ensured a deathly dance.

Feathers flew around

red blood fell on the floor,

these heinous feline fellows

made sure she knew the score.

But, waiting in the wings

a flock of her own kind,

revenge was swift and sure

sharp beaks were put to mind.

Soon the music ceased,

the supper waltz completed,

what had seemed such terrible odds

left the feline thugs defeated.

Melissa, @ dverse poets, has asked us to write a poem based on one of Louis Wains drawings of cats. I have chosen his drawing titled 'What Shall we do with the Feathers?' Melissa also asked that we not use the word 'cat[s]' in our poems.

A Bit of a Makeover...

 I have been giving my Blog a bit of a makeover. From time to time it's necessary I feel, otherwise things get a bit 'same old, same old.' Change is good! Change is the only constant as 'they' say, so change has been activated here. Yay!!
Then why does it feel so uncomfortable?

change for change's sake
squirming emotions arise
don't be afraid little one
